Shrieks in Cups of Gold

When I sat down to paint this it started out as intended to be a portrait of the character Grendel from both the ancient classic Beowolf and the character from John Garnder's novel "Grendel," but it veered off a bit and took on a life of it's own, which can be very exciting and lead to something wonderful. Sometimes letting a painting go wrong can lead to a whole new character or storyline that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise, or link an idea in my mind with something that I've already made or have been working on or stuck on and open up a lot of possibilities!
